THE PROCEDURE - HOW IT ALL WORKS!
To Get Started - First we will need to take in your basic case information. You may give us your information over the telephone - or - by coming in to our office in person - or - by filling in our (mercifully short!) online questionnaire - and then calling us after you submit it. ( See our home page for more details or just click on the "Start Now" button on the menu choices above to begin your questionnaire now.)
Payments - When you call us you will receive a quote, right to the penny, as to exactly what your divorce will cost, depending on where you live, before being asked to make payment. You can then choose to pay online with your bank debit-card or any major credit card over our totally-locked website's secured server. (Unless you prefer, especially if you're arranging for our services by telephone, to use your credit card over the phone; if that's more comfortable for you - we will accept.) The total amount is payable in two installments. Your first payment is payable when you wish to begin your divorce proceeding, and your final payment is payable about eight weeks later when your case is sent up for judgment.
Sign Your Documents in ONE HOUR - You'll receive your completed, ready-to-sign documents by e-mail within approximately ONE HOUR from when you begin. You just sign them and send them back. And we do the rest!
Later On - Swearing Your Affidavit - The only other thing you'll ever be asked to do is, about eight weeks later, go to swear your Affidavit for Divorce. Your swearing of this affidavit is the only proof that is required of your having lived separate and apart for the full one year period required under the law (the Divorce Act of Canada). You will also make your final payment at this time. *You may opt to swear this affidavit at a place closer to where you live or work and if so we can provide you with a list of alternative places; however extra charges may apply.
THE LEGAL PROCESS OF COMPLETING YOUR DIVORCE
Our Responsibility to You
We take full responsibility for the correct preparation of all of the necessary legal documents required to process your divorce through the court system. We take responsibility for the filing of your divorce application and for the legal serving on your spouse with all of the necessary legal documentation that may be required for the circumstances of your proceeding*. (Extra charges may apply if your spouse is uncooperative or lives outside of the country.)
And we keep you informed by e-mail all along the way, of when your divorce proceeding has been officially filed with the court, once your spouse has been served, when your case can be sent up for judgment and lastly - when you can finally expect to receive your DIVORCE ORDER which is the order made under the signature and seal of the Superior Court of Ontario that dissolves your marriage. (You may also obtain a Certificate of Divorce (by mail, for $19.00) from the court office after your Divorce Order takes effect, but this is an optional document. However, you will need it if you wish to re-marry.)
